Head of Data & Insights - #2184247
Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited
Your new company
This is a well-established and ambitious multi-academy trust with a strong presence across the North West. The Trust supports a diverse family of schools and is committed to providing high-quality education and creating the best possible opportunities for young people. With a collaborative approach across its 11 academies, the organisation benefits from strong central services alongside experienced school-based teams. There is a clear focus on continuous improvement, effective leadership and making informed decisions that support both educational outcomes and the wider development of the Trust. This is an organisation with a strong sense of purpose and community, combining the benefits and scale of a multi-academy trust with a commitment to maintaining the individual identity and needs of its schools. As the Trust continues to develop, it is investing in its central capabilities and infrastructure to ensure it is well positioned for the future, therefore now seeking a Head of Data & Insights. Your new role
As Head of Data & Insights reporting to the CIO, you will take a strategic lead on the development and use of data across the organisation, helping to create a joined-up view of information spanning education, finance, HR, estates, health & safety and other core business areas. You will lead the development of accurate and meaningful reporting, dashboards and insight using tools including Power BI and Microsoft Fabric, enabling senior leaders and governance teams to make informed, evidence-based decisions. You will also oversee the continued development and effective use of the organisation's Management Information Systems, ensuring data is consistent, accurate and used effectively across all sites.
Alongside the strategic remit, you will lead and develop the Data team and work closely with senior leaders and school-based teams to strengthen data quality, reporting and processes. This will include overseeing educational performance, attendance, behaviour and safeguarding data, statutory returns and examination processes, while identifying opportunities to automate processes, reduce manual workloads and improve the way information is captured and shared. You will build strong relationships across the organisation and play a key role in creating a consistent, high-quality approach to data and insight that supports continuous improvement. From a team perspective, you will have 2 direct reports, who subsequently manage a team of over 10 data & insights professionals. This is an incredibly exciting role, as the trust continues to look at new technologies in relation to data and make changes to improve overall data & insights management across the trust.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in securing this role, you will be a data professional working in another trust who is looking for a new challenge, ideally with experience working across multiple sites and experience leading a data team. You will have a proactive and forward-thinking approach to data, with experience working on Arbor and liaising directly with individual school leaders. Please note this role is based across multiple sites in the North West, therefore you must be able to commute across the different sites when required.
What you'll get in return
In return, you will be paid a competitive salary of between £57,500 and £61,000 dependent on experience, and you will also receive the school benefits package which includes a generous holiday entitlement and a local government pension scheme. You will become an integral part of the team, reporting to the CIO who will work closely with you around your development, with the opportunity to undertake further qualifications.
