Technical Architect — Manchester, twice a month — £600 per day — Inside IR35

A UK central government programme is building an affordability calculator, and needs a technical architect to lead the discovery before anything gets built.

The work is design rather than delivery. Deciding how it should be built, producing the design, and then taking it through governance and getting it approved.

What you will do

• Lead the technical discovery for a new product, from concept through to go-live
• Work alongside project delivery teams running agile, waterfall and hybrid methods
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions, with traceability you can demonstrate to stakeholders
• Present your architecture design to technical governance forums, respond to challenge, adapt, and take it through to approval
• Justify and communicate design decisions, and complete the governance steps that go with them
• Make sure what you design aligns to the wider strategic solutions rather than solving the same problem twice

What you need

• A track record of architecture designs presented to technical governance forums and approved
• Architecture design with project delivery teams across agile, waterfall and hybrid environments, concept to go-live
• Translating business requirements into technical solutions with demonstrable traceability
• Microsoft Azure — the only mandatory technology on this role
• Experience inside a UK central government department, arm's length body or devolved administration
