Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Critical Infrastructure / Data Centres

Location: Greater Manchester

Salary: £50-60k, dependent on experience

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing Critical Infrastructure team, taking responsibility for the design and delivery of complex mechanical systems, particularly within Data Centre environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design chilled water, high-efficiency cooling and associated mechanical systems.
• Lead mechanical design packages across all RIBA stages, from concept through to construction.
• Produce technical drawings, schematics, specifications and engineering calculations.
• Undertake site surveys, technical assessments and design reviews.
• Prepare technical proposals, tender submissions and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Review technical submissions, ensuring compliance, quality and project delivery standards.

Experience Required

• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
• Ideally 5+ years' experience in mechanical engineering design.
• Strong understanding of HVAC, cooling systems and mechanical infrastructure.
• Experience within Data Centres or critical infrastructure advantageous but not essential.
• Excellent technical, communication and problem-solving skills.
