Project Manager - #2179542
Hays
Your new company
I am working with a public-sector organisation seeking an experienced Projects Manager to support the delivery of its capital programme. This is an initial six-month temporary contract, with a view to becoming permanent thereafter.
Your new role
As Projects Manager, you will manage the development, coordination and delivery of a portfolio of construction-related capital projects, typically valued between £100,000 and £15 million. You will oversee projects from inception and feasibility through design, procurement, construction and final handover, ensuring they are delivered within agreed time, cost and quality requirements.
Acting as Client Representative and Contract Administrator, you will administer JCT and NEC contracts, manage project budgets and identify opportunities for value engineering, external funding and improved efficiency. You will ensure compliance with corporate governance and relevant statutory requirements, including the Building Safety Act 2022, CDM Regulations 2015, building regulations and health and safety legislation.
What you'll need to succeed
- Strong experience managing multiple construction and building capital projects from inception through to completion.
- Practical knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 and JCT contracts within a client-side project environment.
- Experience managing consultants and contractors to deliver projects to time, cost and quality.
- Strong financial management skills, including preparing and monitoring project budgets and business cases.
- Knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022, CDM 2015 and other regulatory requirements affecting capital projects.
- Well-developed communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior leaders, service representatives, consultants and contractors.
- The ability to identify and manage project risks, create contingency plans and develop practical solutions.
- A degree or Level 6 qualification in Construction, Project Management or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- A full, current driving licence and access to a suitably insured vehicle, as this is designated as an essential car-user position.
What you'll get in return
You will secure an initial six-month temporary contract with the opportunity to move into a permanent role thereafter. This is an excellent opportunity to take responsibility for a varied portfolio of significant capital projects, working in a visible client-side position and contributing to projects that support public services and organisational priorities.
This role offers hybrid working and once it becomes permanent you will receive a generous annual leave allowance and pension contribution at just under 20%.
