Fractional Finance Director | Manchester | Growing SME | £700-£900 per day | Outside IR35

We're supporting a growing privately-owned business in Manchester as they look to appoint a Fractional Finance Director for the next phase of their journey.

This opportunity is slightly different from the traditional FD assignment. While there will be involvement in supporting the leadership team on strategy, growth plans, financial performance and commercial decision-making, the primary focus will be developing and mentoring a key member of the finance team over the next 12-24 months.

The business is looking for someone who can transfer knowledge, build confidence and help accelerate the development of an aspiring finance leader, leaving a lasting impact on the organisation long after the assignment has ended.

Responsibilities

• Provide mentoring, coaching and development support to a member of the finance team, helping them progress into a more senior leadership role
• Act as a strategic partner to the leadership team, supporting business planning and growth initiatives
• Offer guidance around financial performance, reporting, controls and decision-making
• Support the business through key commercial and operational projects
• Bring an external perspective and challenge to help drive continuous improvement across the finance function

About You

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Previous experience operating as a Finance Director, CFO or senior finance leader
• Demonstrable experience mentoring, coaching and developing finance professionals
• Strong commercial acumen with experience supporting business growth and strategic decision-making
• Able to balance hands-on support with high-level strategic input and stakeholder engagement

This assignment would suit an experienced FD or CFO who enjoys developing people and helping businesses build stronger finance functions. The ability to coach, mentor and create long-term capability within the team will be just as important as your technical and commercial expertise.
