About CDS
CDS develops and supports CODAS, an ERP platform designed around the day-to-day realities of fuel distribution. For over 50 years, we have combined software expertise with practical industry knowledge.
Our customers depend on CODAS to run their businesses. We build long-term relationships, give honest advice and deliver on our commitments, while continuing to invest in our people, services and software.
The opportunity
Help grow CODAS through new customer relationships and opportunities within our existing customer base.
Choosing an ERP system is a significant, long-term operational decision. You’ll understand each business, establish where CODAS can add value and help customers make a well-informed decision.
Credibility, empathy and honest advice are central to our approach, backed by CDS’s track record and experienced teams. Sometimes an opportunity means additional functionality; often it means helping customers get more from what they already have.
What you’ll do
- Proactively build relationships with prospective customers and identify worthwhile opportunities within existing accounts.
- Understand customers’ operations, challenges and future plans through meaningful conversations and visits.
- Organise and deliver relevant CODAS demonstrations, drawing on specialist colleagues where needed.
- Explain capabilities, benefits and limitations clearly, connecting recommendations to genuine business needs.
- Prepare quotations and proposals, respond to formal enquiries and lead commercial discussions and negotiations.
- Keep opportunities moving through consistent follow-up, accurate records and realistic forecasts.
- Work with Product and delivery colleagues to confirm requirements, dependencies and expectations, and ensure a thorough handover into implementation.
- Contribute customer and market insight, support industry events and help communicate CDS’s capabilities.
What you’ll bring
Strong experience in at least one of these areas:
- Fuel distribution, particularly sales, operations or account management.
- Providing software, technology or services to the downstream fuel industry.
Practical CODAS experience would be a strong advantage. You do not need experience in every area or a previous BDM title; product and industry training will be provided.
You’ll listen carefully, communicate clearly and put customer service at the heart of your decisions. You’ll be comfortable initiating conversations, discussing commercials and helping customers reach a decision.
You’ll take ownership of a brief, identify sensible next steps and progress it independently, involving colleagues when needed and following through on commitments.
What we offer
- Hybrid working and company car or car allowance.
- 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays.
- Option to buy and/or sell 5 days holiday each year.
- Pension, private healthcare and employee assistance programme.
- Death in service benefit and permanent health insurance.
- Product training, experienced colleagues and free onsite parking.
