RiskSmart

munity Coordinator

Company: RiskSmart

Location: Remote/Hybrid (plus UK travel for events)

Job type: Full-time | Permanent

RiskSmart is a fast-growing Manchester-based SaaS company and a modern governance, risk and compliance (GRC) platform. We help risk professionals work smarter, grow faster and get a clear, unified view of risk across their organisation.

Our platform helps risk teams move away from spreadsheets and bring risks, controls, issues and compliance into one connected place, so they can stop reporting on risk and start managing it.

We work with well-known brands across financial services, retail, technology, energy and professional services, with our growth being recognised across multiple industry awards. We pair smart tech with real expertise, and alongside the platform sits R. Community, a growing network of GRC professionals who share knowledge through events, panels and peer discussion.

Community Coordinator Role

R. Community is the professional home for risk professionals. It's where risk and compliance people learn, share what works and meet each other. It already has over 500 members, and we want it to become the hub for risk professionals across the UK and beyond. This role sits at the heart of it.

You'll be the go-to person for R. Community, looking after memberships, coordinating content and keeping the platform buzzing, relevant and up to date. You'll coordinate campaigns that bring new risk professionals in, and help deliver an events programme that gets them together, online and in person.

It's a broad, hands-on role. One day you'll be writing a newsletter and moderating discussions, the next you'll be confirming a venue, briefing a panel speaker or pulling together the numbers on how last month's webinar performed. You'll work across every team at RiskSmart, from marketing and sales to product and customer success, and you'll get the chance to help build something from the ground up.

This is a hybrid role; you must be willing to travel to the Manchester office and travel across the UK for in-person events.

Here's what you can expect to be working on

•   Being the go-to person for R. Community memberships and content coordination, from welcoming new members to keeping the content calendar on track.

•   Coordinating campaigns to grow membership and reach more risk professionals across the UK.

•   Managing the R. Community platform day to day: posts, newsletters, moderation and member queries.

•   Helping deliver our events programme, including product release clinics, industry professional webinars, in-person networking and our annual customer celebration evening.

•   Coordinating the moving parts behind every event: venues, speakers, supplies, invitations and follow-up.

•   Tracking how content and events perform, and using what you learn to make the next one better.

•   Working with teams across RiskSmart so the community, our customers and our product all feed into each other.

•   Bringing new ideas for how R. Community can grow, and taking ownership of the ones that land.

Why you should (and shouldn't) apply

You should apply if...

•   You're a graduate, or you've got some experience in social media, content, marketing, events or community building.

•   You write well. You can turn out a sharp post, a clear newsletter and a friendly reply to a member query, and you can pick up the RiskSmart brand voice and make it your own.

•   You're a real people person. You're comfortable in a room full of senior professionals and you enjoy getting conversations going.

•   You've always got ideas, and you like seeing them through.

•   You've got a strong eye for detail.

•   You want to take ownership early, rather than waiting to be told what to do next.

You probably shouldn't apply if...

•   You'd rather stay behind a screen. This role means meeting members face to face, hosting conversations and representing RiskSmart in the room.

•   Travel or office days don't work for you. In-person events across the UK are a big part of the job.

•   You prefer a tightly defined role with a set process. R. Community is still growing, and a lot of how things get done is to be shaped.

•   Juggling lots of moving parts at once stresses you out. Events, content and member queries will often all need you in the same week.

A bit about you

Experience

You might be fresh out of university, or you might have a year or two in social media, content, marketing, events or community roles. What matters most is that you've done some of this work yourself, whether that's running a society's events, growing a social account, writing for a publication or organising something people turned up to. You do not need a background in risk or GRC. We'll teach you the domain, and the community is full of people happy to share what they know.

Writing and content

You write clearly and with personality. You can adapt your tone for a LinkedIn post, a member newsletter or an email to a senior speaker, and you understand what makes people stop scrolling and engage. Experience with community platforms, social scheduling tools or email marketing tools is a plus, and you're quick to pick up new ones.

People and events

You're confident meeting new people and you're comfortable around senior professionals. You can make someone feel welcome at a networking event, keep an event running to schedule and follow up afterwards so people want to come back. You stay calm when plans change at the last minute.

 Organisation and analysis

You're organised and you keep lots of plates spinning without dropping any. You're curious about what's working and what isn't, and you're comfortable pulling together simple numbers on membership, engagement and event attendance to show it.

We recognise that women and people from underrepresented groups often only apply for jobs when they meet every single one of the requirements listed. If you fall into that category and are about to rule yourself out based on the above, please consider applying anyway. We'd love to see your application.

Why join RiskSmart?

•   You'll be at the heart of R. Community, helping grow it from 500+ members into the place the risk profession goes.

•   Real ownership from day one, with the chance to see your ideas come to life.

•   Exposure to every part of the business, working with marketing, sales, product and customer success.

•   You'll meet and work alongside senior risk and compliance professionals from some of the UK's best-known organisations.

•   A business that moves at pace, trusts its team and thrives on innovation and ideas.

•   Room to grow. This is a role that gets broader as the community does, and we'd rather grow somebody into it than keep hiring above them.

•   RiskSmart values – Keep it simple | Move at pace | Succeed together | We work, how you work

The Package

•   Competitive salary.

•   30 days holiday allowance, plus your birthday off every year.

•   A dedicated Charity Day to support a charity you're passionate about.

•   Access to online GP Services.

•   Private Medical Cover (Ultimate Cover from BUPA).

•   Enhanced paid maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental leav or fertility treatment leave.

•   Quarterly socials, top performers and value leaders' awards.

•   Annual training budget.

•   Cycle to work scheme.

•   Dedicated Mental Health Support.
