Job Introduction

At Turning Point, we support people across the UK with mental health needs, helping them achieve positive outcomes and live more independent lives. As an Overnight Team Leader, you'll play a key role in leading a dedicated team that supports people experiencing a mental health crisis, ensuring they receive compassionate, high-quality care when they need it most.

About the Service

Our Recovery Lounge in Manchester was first commissioned in 2021 and has provided vital evening support to people across the city for the past five years. Due to its success, the service is now being expanded to operate overnight, providing an enhanced crisis support offer throughout the night.

This newly funded project will initially run for 12 months, with a further two years of funding already identified subject to successful delivery. As part of this expansion, we're recruiting a dedicated overnight team to help shape and deliver this exciting new service.

The Role

As an Overnight Team Leader, you'll support the Service Manager in the operational leadership of the overnight service. You'll be responsible for supporting and developing a team of Overnight Recovery Workers while also providing direct support to service users when required.

Working in a fast-paced and rewarding environment where no two shifts are the same, you'll oversee triage and risk assessments, support effective crisis intervention, and ensure the service remains a safe, welcoming space for everyone who accesses it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and support a team of Overnight Recovery Workers.
  • Assist with the day-to-day management of the service and deputise for the Service Manager when required.
  • Work on rota when necessary, providing direct support to people experiencing mental health crises.
  • Oversee triage, risk assessments, safety planning and crisis de-escalation.
  • Promote recovery-focused approaches that empower service users to make informed choices about their future.
  • Build strong relationships with external partners and stakeholders.
  • Conduct staff supervision, support team meetings and contribute to service development.
  • Monitor quality standards and undertake audits to ensure excellent service delivery.

About You

We're looking for a compassionate and resilient leader who is passionate about supporting people with mental health needs.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience working within mental health, health and social care, or a related support environment.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory or team management experience.
  • An understanding of recovery-focused and person-centred support.
  • Experience supporting individuals in crisis and managing risk.
  • Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to inspire, develop and positively challenge colleagues.
  • A genuine interest in mental health, whether through professional experience, qualifications or lived experience.
