The Opportunity

Recruit Engineering are working with a well-established engineering and advanced manufacturing business operating within a highly regulated, safety-critical environment.

Due to continued investment and growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to support the availability, reliability and performance of their manufacturing equipment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a multi-skilled engineer with an electrical bias who has strong experience maintaining CNC and automated manufacturing equipment and enjoys fault finding, preventative maintenance and continuous improvement.

The Shift Pattern & Package

This is a 24/7 manufacturing operation, so flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern is essential.

The business operates either a DuPont or Pitman-style shift rota, depending on the area of the operation.

Candidates must be comfortable working a combination of days, nights, weekends and bank holidays as required to provide continuous engineering and maintenance cover.

The Role

Working as part of the engineering and maintenance team, you will be responsible for maintaining manufacturing assets and equipment, ensuring machinery is available and operating efficiently.

The role will involve a combination of planned, preventative and reactive maintenance, with a strong focus on reducing breakdowns, improving equipment reliability and supporting production output.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across manufacturing equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical and control system faults.
• Maintain and fault-find on CNC machinery and associated equipment.
• Diagnose faults involving PLCs, inverters, drives and machine control systems.
• Support the transition towards a proactive and preventative maintenance culture.
• Investigate equipment failures and identify root causes.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance activities to reduce repeat failures.
• Respond effectively to breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
• Record maintenance activities accurately, including parts used, time taken and equipment condition.
• Produce maintenance reports and provide feedback on recurring faults and reliability issues.
• Work closely with production and engineering teams to improve equipment availability and performance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and problem-solving activities.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with relevant Health, Safety and Environmental (SHE) requirements.
• Prioritise workload effectively while responding to changing production requirements.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer / Maintenance Technician, ideally with an electrical bias, who can demonstrate:

• HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or Engineering discipline.
• Strong industrial maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven CNC machinery maintenance experience.
• Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic capability.
• Good understanding of PLCs, inverters and drives.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment.
• A structured approach to fault finding and root-cause analysis.
• Experience working within a planned preventative maintenance environment.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet production deadlines.
• Flexibility to work a 24/7 rotating shift pattern.

CNC Experience

Experience working with CNC machine tools would be highly advantageous, particularly experience with manufacturers such as:

• Haas
• Matsuura
• Unisign
• DMG Mori

Experience with other CNC manufacturers and automated manufacturing equipment will also be considered.

Desirable Experience

• Modern / lean manufacturing environments.
• Continuous improvement methodologies.
• Manufacturing control systems.
• Root-cause analysis and structured problem solving.
• Maintenance within a high-volume or safety-critical engineering environment.
