Responsible to :

Qualities and Experience required:

To contribute a high standard of physical, emotional and intellectual care for children placed within the nursery. To give support to other personnel within the Nursery. To implement and deliver a daily routine in the base room.

Work with children

Team work

Liaise with parents, staff and professionals

Formulate and operate a programme of activities suitable to the age range of children attending the Nursery in conjunction with the Manager.

Prepare children’s records in your age group and institute reviews for parents, in conjunction with the Management Team

Work alongside parents of special needs children and give physical, emotional, intellectual guidance as appropriate and liaise with the settings SENCO.

Support all staff and engage in a good staff team

Liaise with and support parents and other family members

Attend staff meetings outside working hours

Undertake certain domestic jobs within the nursery, for example preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment.

To attend out of working hours activities , eg. Training, staff meetings, parent’s evenings, summer fayres and Christmas activities.

To be flexible within the working practices within the setting, be prepared to work where needed and undertake some domestic tasks

Recording accidents/ incidents in the books provided

Ensure children are collected by someone known to the setting.

To respect the confidentiality of information received.

To develop your role within the team

Participate in the training programme of a wide variety of students (ie placements and volunteers) by giving guidance and support.

Work alongside the Management team and staff team to ensure that philosophy behind the setting is delivered and fulfilled.

To follow and understand full Safeguarding protocols/policies/procedures

We are looking for a person who is experienced in working with children under 5 years of age.

Willingness to undertake additional training where required.

Skills/Education:

NVQ3 / 2 or equivalent childcare qualification.

Basic food hygiene (desirable)

Full Driving License (desirable)

Pediatric First Aid/ Safeguarding training if not trained in or certificate out of date - will have to undertake within the first month of employment.

Employment type:

Full Time - 40 hours per week on shift rota

Knowledge of the Welfare Requirements (OFSTED)

Knowledge of Health and Safety / Risk Assessments

As a Key Worker you will be responsible for your group of children and ensure that you communicate daily to your superiors and parents if required.
