Are you a caring, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding new opportunity?

Engage Education is currently working with a welcoming and supportive SEN school in North Manchester that is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team from October 2026.

This role is perfect for someone coming from a care or residential background.

Team Teach training would be desireable.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and wants to make a positive difference to their learning, development and wellbeing.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and additional needs.
• Work alongside the class teacher to deliver engaging and accessible learning activities.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support where required.
• Help pupils develop their academic, social and emotional skills.
• Encourage positive behaviour and promote a calm, safe and inclusive classroom environment.
• Assist with personal care where required.
• Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff and other professionals.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with children or young people, ideally within an education or care setting.
• Has a genuine passion for supporting children with SEN.
• Is patient, nurturing and empathetic.
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Is confident supporting pupils on a one-to-one or small-group basis.
• Can remain calm and consistent when faced with challenging situations.
• Is reliable, adaptable and committed to making a difference.

Previous experience working within an SEN setting is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from candidates with transferable experience from education, childcare, youth work, care or support roles.
