Senior Electrical Designer

Location: Manchester (Hybrid Working - 2/3 days per week in the office)
Contract: Contract running to 2029
Rate: Competitive Hourly Rate
Security Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain Security Clearance

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Designer to join a major nuclear project. Working within a highly regulated environment, you will support the delivery of safe, practical, and cost-effective electrical design solutions while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for producing and checking a range of electrical design deliverables and ensuring all work is completed to the highest professional and safety standards. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a complex and long-term programme within the nuclear sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality electrical design deliverables in accordance with company procedures and industry standards.
• Generate and maintain Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), Cable Schedules, Material Take-Offs, BCDs, Schematics, Equipment Layouts, and Cable Routing Drawings.
• Review and check design drawings in accordance with established procedures.
• Liaise closely with other engineering disciplines to ensure coordinated project delivery.
• Support and develop 3D design models using tools such as Navisworks, AVEVA E3D, and Revit.
• Ensure safety, quality, and compliance remain central to all design activities.

About You

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• ONC, OND, HNC, HND, or equivalent engineering qualification.
• More than 10 years of relevant electrical design experience within nuclear or similarly regulated industries.
• Strong understanding of LV electrical design principles.
• Proficiency in CAD software, with 3D modelling experience highly desirable.
• Knowledge of UK electrical legislation, standards, and ideally nuclear industry requirements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• A proactive, safety-conscious, and customer-focused approach.
