Chartered Senior Bridge Engineer

• Location: Hybrid (1-2 days on-site per week)
• Job Type: Contract
• Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday
• Length of role: Initial 7 months

We are seeking a Chartered Senior Bridge Engineer to lead the development of a new multi-lot framework for highway structures services. This role is crucial for ensuring a compliant, efficient, and value-for-money procurement route that aligns with strategic objectives and asset management requirements. The successful candidate will have significant experience in bridge engineering and a proven track record in managing similar frameworks.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Lead the design phase, developing and presenting design proposals on a fortnightly basis.
• Take charge in the preparation of tender documentation ahead of pre-market engagement events with suppliers.
• Work closely with the Highways Contracts Section and support functions including the Programme Management Office, Procurement, and Legal.
• Ensure the new framework supports the authority's strategic objectives, asset management requirements, and future investment programmes.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Demonstrable experience in bridge engineering, particularly in developing and managing new frameworks or contracts.
• Years of experience in procurement, contractual, and operational management within local authority, highways, or similar environments.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and industry best practices, particularly in procurement and contractual matters.
• Excellent management, contract administration, and stakeholder management skills.
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline, with Beng, IEng, CEng, or equivalent professional accreditation preferred.
