Lead Design Coordinator

The Role

To control the design budget and to ensure designs are delivered on time, to the right quality and within budget. Requirements are to challenge the design all the way through the process, including any processes that delay the timely production of design documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • To comply with company procedures and work instructions, guide notes and other information that form part of the quality assurance, health and safety and environmental management systems.
  • To co-ordinate multi-disciplinary design development, including design coordination meetings, buildability review and client reviews. This includes the design interface agreement, sharing of developing design information and formal issue.
  • To establish integrated design programmes by working with the design teams and planners, tracking and monitoring design deliverables using design trackers and design development logs.
  • To assist the Project Manager with tracking design cost to complete against agreed deliverables and instructions.
  • Implement the Barhale design process and Design Management Plan to allocate projects
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary design review meetings
  • Review and accept the design documentation level of completeness before client submission, ensuring all design documentation is logged correctly
  • Collate all necessary design information for the Health & Safety file
  • To ensure all designs meet the necessary client specifications and any national standards, using the support of technical specialists where necessary
  • Carry out and implement technical governance (including the requirements schedule) at the beginning of all projects
  • Hold Challenge workshops at the commencement of the project and after the outline design
  • Review the Particular Specifications (PS) to ensure the minimum required information is submitted for procurement
  • Any other duties commensurate with the position as may be assigned from time to time

Essential:

  • HNC/D in civil, electrical, mechanical or process engineering or equivalent level qualification
  • Process Safety/Hazard Management
  • CDM Regulations 2015 (for Designers preferred)
  • Demonstrable experience commensurate with the level of the role, preferably within the water/wastewater industry or other relevant sector
  • Experience in working within a design and build environment.
  • IT literate with the ability to use a wide range of IT packages, including the Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and work under pressure
