We are looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Residential Support Worker to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting vulnerable children and young people, helping them achieve positive outcomes while living in a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment.
As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will support the Homes Manager in the day-to-day running of the home, lead and mentor Support Workers, and ensure young people receive outstanding care that promotes their emotional wellbeing, independence, and personal development.
About the Role
You will help create a warm, stable, and supportive home where young people can thrive. Working closely with colleagues, families, and external professionals, you will ensure high standards of care are maintained while supporting the development of positive relationships and effective care planning.
Key Responsibilities Supporting Young People
- Build trusting and positive relationships with young people.
- Act as a Key Worker, developing and implementing individual care and support plans.
- Promote emotional, physical, and mental wellbeing.
- Support education, hobbies, interests, and life skills development.
- Ensure young people's views, wishes, and feelings are heard and advocated for.
- Support young people to develop independence and prepare for adulthood.
- Attend reviews, planning meetings, and multi-agency meetings.
- Support, mentor, and oversee Residential Support Workers.
- Assist with staff inductions, supervision, and development.
- Help coordinate staffing resources and daily operations.
- Lead by example and promote a positive team culture.
- Support the Homes Manager with audits, quality assurance, and compliance activities.
- Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are consistently followed.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and case files.
- Support compliance with Children's Home Regulations, Quality Standards, Ofsted requirements, and relevant legislation.
- Ensure risk assessments and support plans are regularly reviewed and updated.
- Support young people with daily routines and life skills.
- Manage medication in line with organisational policies.
- Support appointments, activities, education, and community engagement.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming home environment.
- Support budget management and handling finances where required.

Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working within a Children's Residential Home.
- Experience supporting children and young people with complex needs and challenging behaviours.
- Good understanding of Children's Home Regulations and Quality Standards.
- Strong safeguarding knowledge.
- Excellent communication and record-keeping skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins.
- Experience administering medication.
- Understanding of therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.
- Experience supporting staff development and leading shifts.
