We are seeking an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to lead a high-quality Children's Residential Home, providing outstanding care and positive outcomes for children and young people.
This is an exciting opportunity for a strong and compassionate leader who is committed to delivering therapeutic, child-centred care and creating an environment where young people feel safe, valued, nurtured, and empowered to achieve their full potential.
As Registered Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, development, and performance of the home, ensuring compliance with Children's Homes Regulations, delivering exceptional standards of care, and driving continuous improvement.
The Role
You will provide strong, visible leadership to the team, embedding a culture of warmth, accountability, and high standards of practice.
Working closely with children, families, local authorities, and external professionals, you will ensure the home consistently delivers excellent outcomes and remains fully compliant with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Management
- Lead and inspire a high-performing residential care team.
- Promote a positive, child-focused and therapeutic culture throughout the home.
- Manage staff performance through supervision, appraisals, coaching, and development.
- Ensure effective rota management and safe staffing levels.
- Lead by example, modelling professional and therapeutic practice.
- Drive continuous improvement across all aspects of service delivery.
- Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the home.
- Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are implemented effectively.
- Promote a strong safeguarding culture where children's welfare is always paramount.
- Oversee the management of incidents, complaints, and safeguarding concerns.
- Ensure all staff are trained and confident in safeguarding responsibilities.
- Ensure care plans are child-centred and reflect each young person's needs, wishes, and aspirations.
- Monitor progress and outcomes in education, health, emotional wellbeing, social development, and independence.
- Ensure records, reports, audits, and documentation are completed to a high standard.
- Promote meaningful participation and ensure young people have a voice in decisions affecting their lives.
- Maintain compliance with Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
- Ensure the home remains inspection-ready at all times.
- Lead Ofsted inspections and implement recommendations effectively.
- Oversee Regulation 44 visits, internal audits, and quality assurance processes.
- Develop and implement improvement plans where required.
- Build positive relationships with local authorities, social workers, families, commissioners, and partner agencies.
- Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders and external professionals.
- Represent the organisation professionally and positively at all times.
- Ensure the home provides a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment.
- Maintain robust health and safety standards.
- Ensure risk assessments are completed and reviewed regularly.
- Create a homely atmosphere where children feel a genuine sense of belonging.
We're looking for an experienced residential childcare leader who is passionate about making a lasting difference to the lives of children and young people.
Essential Requirements
Significant experience within Children's Residential CareLevel 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards).
Experience in a management role within a regulated setting
Strong knowledge of Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
Thorough understanding of safeguarding and child protection
Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams
Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills
A therapeutic, trauma-informed, and child-centred approach
Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
- Previous experience leading an Ofsted-registered home.
- Experience of audits, quality assurance, and service development.
- Track record of achieving Good or Outstanding Ofsted outcomes.
Salary up to £75,000 per annum
Discretionary annual bonus of up to £10,000
