Manchester - community based so the role will involve travel across Manchester and Greater Manchester

£15.00 per hour + holiday pay

Temporary - 6 - 8 weeks to start ASAP

Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm

Morgan Hunt is working with a charity that provides support and accommodation to people who are homeless or at risk of losing their home across the North West. The Supported Housing Worker / Floating Support Worker will play a crucial role in assisting young people in securing and maintaining safe, stable housing while providing emotional support and guidance.




The role - Supported Housing Worker / Floating Support Worker



  • Assist young people in securing and maintaining safe, stable, and appropriate housing within the community.
  • Offer emotional support and guidance to help young people navigate the challenges of living independently, including cultural adjustment and coping with trauma.
  • Act as an advocate for young people, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are upheld in housing, education, healthcare, and legal matters.
  • Support young people in developing essential life skills, such as budgeting, cooking, cleaning, and managing household responsibilities.
  • Work closely with social services, legal representatives, healthcare providers, and educational institutions to ensure young people have access to the resources and support they need.
  • Help young people integrate into their local communities by encouraging participation in social, cultural, and recreational activities.
  • Provide immediate support and intervention in times of crisis, ensuring the safety and well-being of the young person.
  • Regularly monitor the progress and well-being of young people, maintaining accurate records and reporting to relevant authorities as required.
  • Ensure all safeguarding policies and procedures are followed to protect young people from harm.
  • Develop and implement individualised support plans based on the unique needs and goals of each young person.




The candidate



  • Proven experience in providing housing - related support, including helping individuals secure and maintain accommodation.
  • Hands-on experience supporting vulnerable young people, particularly those who are unaccompanied asylum seekers or refugees.
  • Practical experience in implementing safeguarding policies and procedures to protect young people from harm.
  • Experience in handling crisis situations, including de - escalation techniques and providing immediate support.
  • Experience working collaboratively with social services, healthcare providers, legal representatives, and other agencies.
  • Practical experience working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, with an understanding of the challenges faced by asylum seekers.
  • Experience in teaching or supporting young people to develop essential life skills, such as budgeting, cooking, and managing a household.
  • Experience advocating on behalf of young people to ensure their needs are met in housing, education, and legal matters.
  • Experience managing a caseload, including creating and maintaining individualised support plans and accurate records.
  • Familiarity with the asylum - seeking process and the specific challenges faced by unaccompanied young people.
  • Experience providing emotional and practical support to individuals who may have experienced trauma or loss.
  • Proven ability to work independently in the community, managing your own schedule.
