Childcare Lawyer

• Hourly Rate: £45
• Location: Trafford, Manchester
• Job Type: Full-time, Temporary

We are seeking an experienced Childcare Lawyer to join our team on a full-time, temporary basis. The role offers the flexibility of remote work, although we prefer candidates who are local to Trafford and can attend the office approximately once a week.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Manage a comprehensive caseload involving all aspects of public law childcare matters, including care proceedings, placement applications, adoption-related proceedings, and special guardianship matters.
• Handle Deprivation of Liberty applications concerning children and pre-proceedings work under the Public Law Outline (PLO).
• Provide legal advice on safeguarding, looked after children matters, and attend hearings and case management hearings.
• Participate in duty lawyer cover arrangements during normal working hours.
• Attend and provide legal advice at Legal Gateway Meetings, Permanence Panels, and offer practical, solution-focused legal advice to social workers, managers, and senior officers.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Must have local authority childcare experience.
• Confident in managing a busy caseload with minimal supervision.
• Capable of undertaking own advocacy as required.
• Strong ability to provide timely, practical, and solution-focused legal advice.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with various teams.
