CI & Business Improvement Manager
Location: Greater Manchester
We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established aerospace manufacturing business seeking an experienced CI / Business Development Manager to drive operational improvements across its sheet metal manufacturing facility.
This is not a sales business development role. Instead, you'll be responsible for identifying opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, implementing lean initiatives, reducing waste and increasing efficiency across the factory.
Working closely with senior management, you'll lead continuous improvement projects from concept through to implementation, helping to shape the future performance of the business.
The Role
This is a hands-on position based predominantly on the shop floor. You'll spend time understanding current manufacturing processes, identifying inefficiencies and implementing practical improvements that enhance productivity, quality and operational performance.
You'll work collaboratively with production, engineering and senior management teams to deliver measurable improvements while maintaining the high standards expected within an aerospace manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes and workflow.
- Lead and coordinate Continuous Improvement (CI) projects across the factory.
- Work closely with senior management to implement operational improvement initiatives.
- Analyse manufacturing methods and recommend more efficient ways of working.
- Monitor, report and present CI progress to the senior management team.
- Support lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives throughout the business.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement across production teams.
- Ensure all improvement activities are carried out safely and in line with company procedures.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Strong engineering or manufacturing background.
- Experience leading Continuous Improvement initiatives within manufacturing.
- Ability to identify inefficiencies and implement practical process improvements.
- Experience working within a factory or production environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial awareness and good computer skills.
- Committed to maintaining high safety standards and supporting 5S.
Desirable
- Aerospace manufacturing experience.
- Sheet metal manufacturing experience.
- Experience of Lean Manufacturing tools and methodologies.
