Core Responsibilities

As a Team Manager within this high-performing authority, your leadership will focus on:

  • Service Delivery & Operational Oversight: Managing a team of Social Workers and Senior Practitioners, ensuring all casework adheres to statutory requirements across Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children (LAC) frameworks.

  • Practice Leadership & Supervision: Providing robust, reflective supervision and technical guidance to staff, driving high-quality, analytical assessments and purposeful care planning.

  • Performance & Threshold Management: Managing risk effectively, overseeing resource allocation (including short breaks and specialized care packages), and ensuring compliance with key performance indicators.

  • Multi-Agency Integration: Cultivating strong partnerships with health providers, education authorities, and voluntary sectors to deliver seamless, holistic support for families.

Mandatory Candidate Criteria

What Manchester City Council Offers You
  • Premium Remuneration: A highly lucrative hourly rate of £46.00 per hour.

  • An 'Outstanding' Culture: The opportunity to lead within an Ofsted-rated 'Outstanding' local authority backed by a stable, visionary senior leadership team.

  • Modern Hybrid Balance: A flexible working model that balances office-based leadership and community presence with working from home.
