Benefit Assessment Officer

Hours: 37 hours per week

Rate: £20-£23 per hour Umbrella

Location: Remote

Main duties of the job:

• Assessing new claims, changes of circumstances, and revisions for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction in line with statutory regulations and local authority policies
• Review and validate supporting documentation, applying risk-based verification where required
• Provide clear, accurate explanations of decisions to customers, local authorities, and partner organisations
• Maintain accurate records on the organisations case-management systems, ensuring all actions meet audit and quality standards
• Work to agreed KPIs, including accuracy, productivity, and turnaround times
• Respond to queries, providing technical guidance, and contributing to continuous service improvement
• Identify potential fraud indicators and refer cases appropriately
• Keep up to date with Housing Benefit, CTR, DWP guidance, and welfare reform changes
