Vix Technology
Security Architect - Manchester (Hybrid)

Shape the future of security for one of Manchester's most impactful global technology organisations.

At Vix Technology, we're not just moving people - we're moving cities, communities, and the world forward. Our technology powers public transport, payments, and connected mobility across 200+ cities worldwide, including the digital foundations behind Manchester's Bee Network. Now, we're entering a major phase of growth and modernisation, strengthening how we design, build, and secure the systems that millions rely on every day.

We're looking for a Security Architect who wants to play a defining role in that journey. Someone who thrives where strategy meets hands‑on engineering, who can simplify complex challenges, and who's motivated by shaping secure-by-design solutions at global scale. This is your opportunity to influence how a high‑growth organisation manages risk, resilience, and trust — and be part of a team making big, meaningful changes to how we operate.

Requirements

What you'll take the lead on:

  • Defining and evolving our enterprise security architecture across cloud, application, infrastructure, hardware and data platforms
  • Partnering with engineering and product teams to embed security-by-design principles into every stage of development and delivery
  • Driving the adoption of Zero Trust architecture and modern identity, access, and privileged access management strategies.
  • Implementing security controls aligned with security standards, industry best practices and regulatory requirements such as PCI, ISO, CIS, NIST, CSA, NIS, GDPR etc
  • Evaluating emerging technologies, identifying security risks early, and influencing strategic technology decisions across the organisation
  • Guiding incident readiness and resilience initiatives, ensuring architectural decisions improve detection, response, and recovery capabilities
  • Shaping our cloud security strategy across our cloud environments, including network segmentation, workload protection, and secure CI/CD pipelines
  • Guiding teams with technical clarity and influence, helping build a culture of modern, scalable, secure engineering
  • Bring clarity to complex security challenges and influence decisions at all levels
  • Help to create a culture where secure engineering is everyone's responsibility

What you bring

You'll have deep experience in cybersecurity with a strong foundation in security architecture — particularly across AWS, hybrid cloud, and modern DevSecOps practices. You're comfortable translating technical complexity into clear decisions, and confident working with stakeholders at all levels. You understand frameworks like NIST, ISO 27001, CIS, OWASP etc., and ideally have experience designing or supporting PCI compliant environments. You're hands‑on with tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, DLP, IAM, and encryption, and you stay current with emerging threats and technologies. Certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, CISM, or TOGAF are welcome but not essential. AWS Solutions Architect certification is very desirable.

If you're motivated by shaping large‑scale security strategy, bringing clarity to complexity, and influencing how a global organisation secures its future, we'd love to hear from you.

This role is open to UK citizens or residents with full, ongoing work rights.

Proven architectural experience in securing software, hardware and cloud environments (AWS) using best security practice and security frameworks aligned to NIST, ISO, CIS, CSA, PCI, NCSC etc. is essential.
