What will be your role in the company?

The Technical Trainer will work as part of the CAF Rail UK Training & Competence team to develop and deliver comprehensive technical training packages in support of the CAF Civity UK family of vehicles.Training packages will primarily focus on the overhaul of major assemblies but will also include vehicle familiarisation, in-depth systems training and maintenance procedures which will be used to enhance the skills and knowledge of our operational teams around the country.

Responsible to the Training and Competence Manager you will ensure the effective delivery of training along with implementation of Railway Group Standards, industry codes of practice, strategies, and policies sufficient to the safe use, operation, and maintenance of Traction and Rolling Stock.You will also be responsible for assisting CAF Rail UK in maintaining the integrity of its ROGs compliance as well as supporting risk management and safety performance activities.

Your daily duties will include:

TRAINING DELIVERY

  • Support the delivery the Training & Competence strategy as aligned to the needs and strategic objectives of CAF Rail UK.
  • Facilitate learning and enhance understanding of complex technical concepts using simulators, mock-ups and real-world equipment.

CONTENT DEVELOPMENT

  • Utilise a variety of multimedia applications and delivery methods to create detailed, accurate, engaging, user-friendly content and resources to support the delivery of training. Collaborate with colleagues across the all areas of the business and our industry partners where applicable.
  • Develop relevant training material for provision both internally and externally (to clients) as required. Where relevant such material should incorporate E-Learning technology to facilitate delivery across multiple locations.

CURRICULUM DESIGN

  • Conduct training needs analysis to identify learning opportunities.
  • Develop structured training programmes which are aligned with organisational objects, industry standards and regulatory requirements.

EVALUATION & IMPROVEMENT

  • Assess training effectiveness through feedback, assessments and performance metrics
  • Regularly review and update content to ensure latest practices and processes are captured with clarity and in detail.

STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attend project meetings; support project (and wider business) initiatives, and assist with any technical, safety and incident investigations as required.
  • Deliver against an agreed set of objectives and KPIs aligned to the organisational strategy and objectives. Provide supporting reports.

What salary will you be paid for this role?

As a Real Living Wage Employer, we are proud to pay competitively at CAF. For this role you will be offered a salary in the region of £43,000 per annum.

What will make you successful in this position?

To succeed in this role you will need:

  • Level 4 qualification in a relevant field of mechanical / electrical engineering.
  • Level 4 Training delivery qualification (e.g. CTLLS)
  • Strong understanding of train systems (e.g. traction, braking, signalling, control systems).
  • Proven experience in delivering technical training within the rail or other relevant industry.
  • Experience of instructional design and proficient in the use of authoring tools.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry standards.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Familiarity with competence-based training and assessment frameworks.
  • Qualified workplace competency assessor (CAVA, A1, D32/33, NVQ)
  • Excellent communicator at all levels and in multiple environments.
  • Able to organise and prioritise work activities to meet deadlines.
  • Language: English. A knowledge of Spanish would be beneficial but not essential.
