This role is part of our EMEA Data craft team, an integrated craft across Europe driving data engineering, data science, and AI initiatives. We combine our expertise in data architecture, analytics, and AI to deliver exceptional data-driven solutions that build lasting relationships with our clients like Footlocker, Nikon, Rituals, and Philips.

Role Overview

As a Senior Data Engineer you’re supporting our clients in architectural design, implementation and researching of the more complex data integrations setups. You also work on providing other data consumers like data scientists the needed data for their data models and watchdog continuous delivery on projects, periodically reviewing the current tech stack decisions and challenging the components from every aspect - operational, security and cost aspect.

Job Purpose

As part of the EMEA Data craft team, you will be responsible for delivering technical excellence on complex client projects. Our Data Engineers are supporting our clients in architectural design, implementation and researching of the more complex data integrations setups. They also work on providing other data consumers the needed data for their data models and watchdog continuous delivery on projects, periodically reviewing the current tech stack decisions and challenging the components from every aspect - operational, security and cost aspect.

Key Responsibilities

  • Steering clients with profound technical and communication skills;
  • Guide our clients with your expertise, give them the right advice for them to become data-mature and evangelize the best practices within DEPT as well our clients;
  • Envisioning a target architecture / implementation with its constituents and roll out an implementation plan for it;
  • Sensitivity on clean coding, adherence to best practices, CI/CD, peer upskilling;
  • Brainstorm and put on workshops with clients to spot new data opportunities;
  • Sales pitching, training organization, data product ownership, data privacy.


What We Are Looking For

  • Extensive experience in a data engineering role, preferably in a digital agency environment;
  • Hands-on experience with at least one (hopefully more than one) of the following projects: data migration, data platform setup, end-to-end analytics & reporting setup, data warehouse setup (incl. modeling), data activation, data quality, data governance, real-time reporting;
  • Hands on experience on GCP (Google Cloud Platform) environment; preferably on most of the following: BigQuery, Cloud Composer, Cloud Run, Cloud Monitoring & Logging, Dataplex, Beam, Tentacles and Pub/Sub;
  • Fluent Python, SQL skills with real life project experience;
  • Experience on orchestration tools such as Airflow and DBT;
  • Experience with one of major analytical DWHs is plus: BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks, Synapse;
  • Work experience with following technologies are noteworthy to mention and might be seen as bonus: AWS (and Data related proprietary technologies), Azure (and Data related proprietary technologies), Adverity, Fivetran, Looker, PBI, Tableau, RDBMS, Spark, Redis, Kafka;
  • Being a fair, kind and reliable colleague, open to bi-directional criticism and feedback loop, autonomous but equally responsible;
  • Working proficiency in the English language;
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
