The Purpose

As a General Duties Assistant, you will play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards across the stadium estate. This hands-on position combines cleaning, and general maintenance to help ensure that all areas are presented to elite professional standards.

The Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out daily cleaning and maintenance of key areas including offices, changing rooms, gyms, and public or staff zones within Old Trafford and associated training facilities.
  • Assist with fixture and training day operations, including pre- and post-session cleaning and preparation.
  • Undertake housekeeping duties in storage spaces and garages, maintaining clean and organized workspaces.
  • Undertake BICS (Cleaning Proficiency Certificate)
  • Ability to understand and follow laid down cleaning schedules/specifications.
  • Work methodically and efficiently to meet work productivity targets
  • Identify and report maintenance issues or damages to your supervisor promptly.
  • Always uphold health & safety and COSHH standards.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to all internal departments and visiting staff.
  • Work flexibly, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and match days, as required by the football schedule.

Essential

  • Willing to work variable hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and match days to support the dynamic demands of a world-class sporting environment.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of health & safety protocols, including manual handling and COSHH, and always adheres to them.
  • Maintains a high standard of cleanliness, organization, and attention to detail in all areas of responsibility.
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues across departments, fostering a supportive and productive working environment.
  • Able to communicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully with staff, visitors, and contractors.
  • Always Represents Manchester United with professionalism and courtesy, ensuring that facilities are presented to the highest standards for staff, players, and guests.
  • Capable of lifting and moving heavy equipment and materials safely as required by the role.
  • Able to plan tasks effectively, follow procedures, and maintain accurate records when needed (e.g., HAVs

monitoring).

Desirable

  • Background in cleaning, maintenance, or general facilities support in a professional or commercial setting.
  • Valid UK driving licence, helpful for transport between Old Trafford and other club properties.
  • Understanding of sustainable practices in property and facilities management.
  • Background in a customer-facing role, with a proven track record of delivering excellent service.
  • Understanding of or experience in monitoring hand-arm vibration exposure.
  • Full training will be provided upon commencement of employment
