About Cowgills

At Cowgills, we do things differently. As one of the North West’s leading firms of chartered accountants and business advisors, we combine deep technical expertise with a fresh, down-to-earth approach to supporting ambitious businesses. With over 250 talented and engaged employees, we provide tailored financial solutions to help our clients navigate challenges, seize opportunities, and achieve growth.

We take pride in building long-term partnerships and delivering real impact—whether that’s through audit, accounts, tax, corporate finance, property finance or strategic advice. Our independence means we’re agile, innovative, and able to offer the kind of personalised service that sets us apart.

The Role

Join our Property & Construction team and play a key role in expanding our presence in the sector. This is more than just an audit or accounts role—you’ll act as a trusted advisor, coordinating expertise across audit, tax, corporate finance, and business recovery to provide strategic, commercially focused advice to our clients. You’ll help drive the growth of our client base, cross-sell internal services, and build long-term relationships within the industry.

Working closely with our current sector lead, you’ll play a critical part in ensuring long-term succession and continued expansion of the team. Over time, you’ll take ownership of key client relationships while also developing the next generation of specialists in the firm.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building and managing strong client relationships within the property & construction sector, becoming their go-to advisor on financial strategy, structuring, and compliance.
  • Leading a portfolio of real estate clients, overseeing audit, accounts, tax, and advisory services tailored to their specific needs.
  • Driving business development and expanding our presence in the property sector, identifying and securing new opportunities.
  • Coordinating across multiple service lines, ensuring clients receive seamless, high-quality advice that supports their growth.
  • Mentoring and developing a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence and professional growth.
  • Enhancing Cowgills’ reputation as a leading real estate advisory firm through networking, thought leadership, and industry engagement.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a commercially minded, relationship-driven professional with a genuine passion for the property & construction sector. You’ll bring sector expertise, leadership skills, and a drive to grow both your portfolio and the firm’s wider real estate practice
  • You’ll already hold RI status or be close to achieving it, with a proven ability to lead complex audits and uphold the highest quality standards.
  • You have a strong track record in advising property & construction businesses, with experience in audit, tax, and accounts for property investors, developers, and construction businesses or hold a keen interest in specialising in the sector
  • You’ll be ACA or ACCA qualified, with in-depth technical expertise in financial reporting, compliance, and structuring for real estate clients.
  • With a natural ability to build and maintain client relationships, you’ll position yourself as a strategic partner, providing commercial insights and proactive advice.
  • You’ll have a strong business development mindset, confident in identifying new opportunities, expanding your network, and contributing to the firm’s growth.
  • A collaborative leader, you’ll enjoy mentoring your team, sharing knowledge, and fostering a high-performing, client-focused culture.

Why Cowgills?

This is a unique opportunity to join a firm with a well-established reputation in the property & construction sector and work alongside highly respected industry expert. Stuart Stead. You’ll have the chance to shape the future of the team, take ownership of key relationships, and be part of a growing, ambitious firm that values long-term partnerships.

If you’re looking for a role where you can make a real impact, grow your career, and lead in a specialist market, we’d love to hear from you.
