Context
As a Bid Manager/Writer you will play a key role in contributing to the expansion of the engineering business in the UK and Ireland by leading and managing prequalification’s and tenders from initial notification to successful delivery to the Project Director as well as supporting the planning and delivering written content for bids and bid submissions.

Context
As a Bid Manager/Writer you will play a key role in contributing to the expansion of the engineering business in the UK and Ireland by leading and managing prequalification’s and tenders from initial notification to successful delivery to the Project Director as well as supporting the planning and delivering written content for bids and bid submissions.
Missions/Main Duties
- Engage with clients on each opportunity to ensure thorough understanding of their current and future needs.
- Review preliminary bid documents to recommend go/no go decisions in line with our business strategy to maximise the probability of success.
- Lead the bidding process for identified engineering opportunities and bids ensuring all contractual and technical conditions are understood.
- Develop winning proposals in line with the approved bid programme and budget.
- Work with the Bid directors and Bid Managers to develop a proposal structure and produce written bid responses and presentation collateral in line with deadlines.
- Reviewing and editing previously written content where necessary, working with other bid team members and wider SYSTRA group employees to gather evidence and craft compelling win themes/propositions.
- Write effective, concise, and compelling content while under the pressure of deadlines.
- Writing content for bid presentations and all supporting documentation, ensuring a cohesive and consistent alignment to bid submissions.
- Construct a response which pulls together factual information gleaned from a variety of sources in a format which is both interesting and comprehensive.
- Support other bid team members to give them confidence to write and produce materials themselves.
- Support the development of the bid library content.
- Engage with legal team to ensure all contractual, legal and insurance issues are considered.
Essential
- Proven track record of successful bid/proposal delivery with a sound understanding of commercial and contract terms.
- Experienced in bids delivery within the engineering / rail / Energy sectors.
- Must have previous experience as a Bid Writer as part of a Bid team.
- A high attention to detail with an excellent editing and proofing ability
- Ability to understand client needs and translate these into concrete technical solutions.
- Excellent communication skills and collaboration skills are essential for the role.
- Ability to work as a member of cross-cultural teams in different time zones.
- Ability to make decisions in a time-pressurised situation.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel Particular)
- Knowledge of InDesign (Preferred)
- Professional approach with the ability to motivate others.
- Good engineering and technical knowledge and the willingness and ability to learn quickly.
