Senior Womenswear Designer


North Manchester


I am recruiting for an experienced Senior Designer join an established high street retailer based within their North Manchester head office. As a talented clothing designer, you will be supporting the Head of Design and leading on creating the design strategy and direction for the brands under your control. Leading by creative example, supporting the established and junior members of the design team ensuring a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.


Your main responsibilities will include



  • Create and deliver the short-, medium- and long-term design strategy plans for the brands under your remit

  • Lead the seasonal design direction for the brands and team collections

  • Conduct extensive design research e. g. using directional shopping, fabric fairs, catwalk awareness to create unique stand out product lines

  • Continually review and assess the commerciality of designs, recognise key products, trends and volume lines

  • Support your design team in the process to meet all deadlines of the wider design team

  • Conduct regular market research and competitor analysis

  • Work in collaboration with the Development, Sourcing, Buying and Merchandising teams to fully support the overall delivery of a profitable and commercial range whilst adhering to the highest quality standards.

  • Works to and delivers products in line with departmental deadlines to ensure your product is available for all key meetings and deadlines

  • Travel to various supplier bases for seasonal sourcing of key fabric and new opportunities and ideas

  • Take ownership of category, ensuring the product is available for all look book / campaigns and ecommerce shoots


Key requirements for the role.



  • Proven experience as a Designer within a fast paced, fashion environment is essential. Womenswear experience is preferred.

  • Must have a love and passion for fashion

  • Strong skills with Adobe Illustrator, Acrobat & Photoshop

  • Naturally creative

  • Able to adapt swiftly in a fast paced, ever changing fashion market.

  • Be a strong communicator with excellent organisation skills
