Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clerk of Works to join our team in overseeing construction projects within the council and highways domain. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that construction activities adhere to the specified standards, regulations, and contractual requirements. This position falls outside of IR35 regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, and relevant regulations.
- Monitor the quality of workmanship, materials, and construction methods to ensure adherence to industry standards.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of construction activities, including daily logs, inspection reports, and photographs.
- Generate comprehensive reports on project progress, identifying any deviations from plans and proposing corrective actions.
Compliance and Regulation:
- Ensure that construction activities align with local council regulations, highways standards, and other applicable codes.
- Collaborate with relevant authorities to obtain necessary permits and approvals.
- Act as a liaison between contractors, project managers, and relevant stakeholders to communicate project requirements and expectations.
- Provide regular updates on project status and address any concerns promptly.
- Identify and address construction issues promptly, working closely with contractors to find effective solutions.
- Collaborate with project managers to resolve conflicts and challenges in a timely manner.
Safety and Risk Management:
- Monitor and enforce health and safety protocols on construction sites, promoting a culture of safety.
- Identify potential risks and work with stakeholders to implement mitigation measures.
- Keep track of project costs related to construction activities and report any variances to the budget.
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely invoicing.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Clerk of Works in construction projects, particularly within the council and highways sector.
- Knowledge of relevant construction codes, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Relevant qualifications in construction management or a related field.
