Imperium Financial Recruitment
Senior Corporate Recovery Manager / Director

Location: Manchester

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience and appointment level

Take a leading role in complex corporate recovery work and help shape the continued success of an established insolvency practice.

Imperium Financial Recruitment is recruiting a Senior Corporate Recovery Manager or Director for a well-established firm of Corporate Insolvency Practitioners based in Manchester.

This opportunity would suit an experienced Senior Manager seeking greater responsibility or a Director looking for a fresh challenge within a respected specialist firm.

Combining technical case oversight, team leadership and client relationship management, the role offers scope to make a significant contribution to the practice. The position and level of responsibility will be tailored to the successful candidate’s experience.

The role

Working closely with the firm’s senior leadership, you will oversee a varied portfolio of corporate insolvency and recovery assignments, ensuring cases progress effectively and teams receive clear direction.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing complex corporate insolvency appointments, including administrations, Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidations and Members’ Voluntary Liquidations.
  • Managing assignments from initial enquiry and pre-appointment planning through to completion.
  • Reviewing financial information, assessing available options and supporting the development of practical strategies for distressed businesses.
  • Providing technical oversight on case strategy, asset realisations, investigations and creditor matters.
  • Managing relationships with directors, lenders, creditors, solicitors, agents and other professional advisers.
  • Reviewing reports, statutory documentation and key correspondence for accuracy and quality.
  • Monitoring case progression, budgets, work in progress and fee recovery.
  • Leading, mentoring and developing managers and case administration staff.
  • Identifying and resolving complex issues, escalating matters where appropriate.
  • Supporting compliance, file reviews and improvements to case management procedures.
  • Contributing to business development, maintaining introducer relationships and identifying opportunities for new instructions.

At Director level, you will also be expected to make a broader contribution to practice management, team performance and the firm’s growth strategy.

About you

You will have substantial experience in corporate insolvency and recovery, with a proven ability to oversee complex assignments and lead teams.

You will bring:

  • A strong technical understanding of corporate insolvency procedures.
  • Experience at Senior Manager or Director level, or clear readiness to step into a more senior position.
  • Sound commercial judgement and the confidence to make and communicate case decisions.
  • A track record of managing professional relationships and delivering high-quality work.
  • Strong leadership skills, including experience developing colleagues and reviewing their work.
  • The ability to balance technical requirements, commercial considerations and stakeholder expectations.
  • Effective financial management of assignments, including budgets, fees and recoveries.
  • A proactive approach to building relationships and contributing to the wider practice.

JIEB qualification and/or an Insolvency Practitioner licence would be advantageous. Experienced candidates with a strong corporate recovery background are also encouraged to apply.

An established introducer network or track record of generating instructions would be particularly valuable for a Director-level appointment.

The opportunity
  • A senior position within a well-established Manchester insolvency practice.
  • Responsibility for varied and complex corporate recovery assignments.
  • The opportunity to influence team development, case strategy and business performance.
  • Close involvement with the firm’s senior leadership.
  • Scope to shape the role around your experience, strengths and career ambitions.
