Imperium Financial Recruitment is recruiting an ACCA or ACA-qualified Accountant to join a newly established firm of Chartered Accountants based in Manchester.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practice accountant who would enjoy helping to establish a business, develop its client service offering and put effective systems and processes in place.

The ideal candidate will have previously worked within a well-established firm of Chartered Accountants and will bring the technical knowledge, professional standards and practical experience needed to help build a successful practice.

Working closely with the founders, you will combine hands-on accountancy work with involvement in the day-to-day development of the firm. You will help deliver a high-quality service to clients while contributing to how the practice operates and grows.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
• Preparing management accounts and providing clear explanations of financial performance.
• Preparing corporation tax computations and supporting clients with routine tax compliance.
• Overseeing VAT returns, bookkeeping and the accuracy of client accounting records.
• Managing client relationships, answering queries and identifying where additional advice is needed.
• Supporting client onboarding and establishing clear engagement and information-gathering processes.
• Helping select and implement accounting software, workflows and practice management systems.
• Developing templates, review procedures and quality controls.
• Managing deadlines, workloads and assignments to ensure work is delivered accurately and on time.
• Supporting proposals, prospective client meetings and the development of new business.
• Helping recruit, guide and develop colleagues as the firm expands.
• Working with the founders to shape the firm’s services and client experience.

You must be fully ACCA or ACA qualified and have experience working within an established firm of Chartered Accountants.

You will also bring:

• Strong experience preparing accounts and handling tax compliance for a varied portfolio of clients.
• The ability to manage assignments independently and recognise when specialist advice is required.
• A sound understanding of the systems, controls and working practices that support a well-run accountancy firm.
• Confidence building client relationships and explaining financial matters clearly.
• A hands-on approach and the flexibility to work across a broad range of responsibilities.
• Commercial awareness and an interest in helping a new practice attract and retain clients.
• High professional standards, attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Experience using cloud accounting software, such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage.

Experience of reviewing colleagues’ work, supervising staff or improving practice processes would be particularly valuable.
