The Role

The Infrastructure & Systems Engineer will sit within a small, capable IT team and report directly to the Head of IT, taking responsibility for the administration, maintenance, and ongoing development of a broad internal technology estate. You will serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues while also leading infrastructure projects and driving continuous service improvements.

Day to day, the Infrastructure & Systems Engineer will administer Windows Server environments, manage identity and access controls, maintain virtualisation platforms, and oversee backup and disaster recovery solutions.

The role is based onsite from their Manchester offices.

What experience does the Infrastructure & Systems Engineer need?

• Strong hands-on IT infrastructure experience, with solid grounding in Windows Server administration, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Hyper-V virtualisation environments.

• Practical knowledge of networking technologies, along with experience administering firewalls, ideally next-generation platforms such as Sophos XGS or comparable solutions.

• Familiarity with Microsoft 365 Hybrid deployments, Azure and Entra ID, Microsoft Intune, and experience supporting SQL Server and IIS

• Ability to develop PowerShell automation, manage patch and vulnerability remediation programmes, and produce clear technical documentation
