Growth Director – Rail & Transport Infrastructure

Circa £150,000 basic salary, with scope up to £180,000 for an exceptional candidate

Remit: UK & Ireland, predominantly UK

Have you helped win major rail or transport design and build work by choosing the right contractor partner and shaping the opportunity before it went to tender?

A major international engineering and infrastructure consultancy is appointing a Growth Director to lead its contractor partnerships across UK transport. Rail and transit are the main focus, alongside highways.

The consultancy already has strong client relationships, established contractor accounts and a pipeline of identified opportunities. Your job is to decide which opportunities to pursue, which contractors to partner with and how the consultancy’s expertise can help them win.

What you’ll do

  • Build relationships with senior decision-makers at Tier 1 and Tier 2 infrastructure contractors.
  • Match design and build opportunities with the contractors best placed to win them, taking account of client priorities and each partner’s strengths.
  • Bring sector leaders, contractor account leads and technical teams together early to shape bids.
  • Set priorities across key contractor accounts and take responsibility for a new business target.
  • Help convert the existing pipeline in year one and build a stronger pipeline ready to bid in year two.

What you’ll bring

  • Deep knowledge of UK transport infrastructure, particularly rail and transit.
  • Established relationships with rail clients and senior decision-makers at major infrastructure contractors.
  • A track record of personally shaping and winning significant design and build work, with clear examples of how you selected or developed the partnership.
  • A strong understanding of public sector procurement and infrastructure frameworks.
  • The ability to influence senior colleagues across a complex business and agree where to focus time and resources.

Your background could be with an engineering consultancy or a major infrastructure contractor. You might currently be a Growth Director, Business Development Director, Work Winning Director, Rail Sector Director or Strategic Account Director.
