Graduate Transport Planner - Manchester (2027 Start)

At AECOM, we have a number of exciting opportunities across the UK & Ireland for graduates to work within our Transport Planning Team. We provide advice and support to address the challenges facing society, environment and the economy.

Our team based in Manchester covers all areas of transport planning, including transport strategy development, transport modelling and appraisal, feasibility studies, business case development, development planning, and monitoring and evaluation. For many of our projects, we work collaboratively with colleagues across AECOM's many disciplines, including planners, designers, architects, engineers, regeneration and environmental specialists. The majority of our projects are based in the North of England, but we also support offices across the UK and Ireland and undertake some national and international work.

We are looking for an ambitious team player who wishes to assist in developing and communicating proposals for transport schemes and strategies, working in a collaborative environment. The role would suit a self-motivated individual looking to begin their career in a dynamic team helping to solve real-world, practical, challenges.

This role would sit within our rail planning team so we would particularly welcome those keen to pursue a career in this area. We do however appreciate that at this early stage in your career it will be important to maintain a broader perspective across transport planning as a whole and we will, of course, provide you with all the training and support you need to progress your career and develop professionally. You will be working within a positive culture where learning and development is not only supported, but also actively promoted.

Early work with us will typically be supporting senior staff with technical input into a variety of projects. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Data collection and analysis
  • Development of transport strategies and plans
  • Developing and applying transport demand and operational models
  • Scheme development and appraisal
  • Preparation of transport assessments for developments
  • Preparation of business cases for transport schemes
  • Assisting in the preparation of reports, presentations, bids and proposals
  • Attending meetings and workshops with clients, other discipline members and stakeholders.

At AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously. All newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.

Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible since CVs will be reviewed, and candidates selected for an advanced offer start. Please include a covering letter with your application and provide all predicted and/or obtained academic grades. You must have permanent right to work in the UK as we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position.
