Technical Subsidence Specialist - #2186244

Our client, one of the UK’s leading claims and loss adjusting businesses, is looking for a Technical Subsidence Specialist to join their Subsidence team. This is a senior technical role, acting as the go-to expert on complex subsidence and ground movement claims.

You’ll provide technical direction on causation, investigation and repair, support adjusters and consultants across the team, and help keep technical standards high. It’s a home-based role with site visits as needed, so a base in or around Leeds would work best.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical input on complex subsidence, heave and ground movement claims
• Assess causation and advise on liability, including support for declinature, recovery and litigation decisions
• Plan and review site investigations, including trial pits, boreholes, drainage surveys and monitoring
• Recommend and review repair and mitigation solutions, including underpinning, drainage works and vegetation management
• Carry out site inspections on complex or disputed cases
• Review technical reports and support consultants and adjusters across the team
• Work closely with engineers, arboriculturists, contractors and other specialists
• Contribute to technical training, quality reviews and continuous improvement

What We’re Looking For

You’ll have deep subsidence experience and be confident making and defending technical decisions. A building surveying or civil/structural engineering background is ideal.

• Significant experience in subsidence claims, ideally in a loss adjusting or insurer environment
• Strong understanding of subsidence causes, investigation methods and repair techniques
• Building surveying, civil or structural engineering background
• MRICS, MCIOB, chartered engineer or similar professional status would be an advantage
• Clear, well-structured report writing
• Confident communicator able to explain technical issues to non-technical audiences
• Full UK driving licence
