Management Accountant - #2184263

Our client are a leading financial services business and are looking for a Management Accountant who wants to be more than a month-end machine. You’ll produce sharp, accurate management information, challenge the numbers and help budget holders and senior leaders understand what’s really driving performance. You’ll be a key part of a friendly, ambitious finance team, with plenty of room to improve how we report, forecast and plan.

What you’ll do

• Deliver the month-end: Prepare management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations, on time and to a high standard
• Tell the story: Analyse results against budget and forecast, explain the variances and give clear commentary that people can act on
• Plan ahead: Support budgeting and reforecasting, and build and maintain financial models
• Partner with the business: Work with budget holders and senior managers, giving them the insight to make better decisions
• Strengthen controls: Keep the ledgers accurate and support internal and external audit
• Improve the process: Find ways to automate, streamline and make reporting faster and better
• Keep things compliant: Support VAT, statutory and other reporting requirements as needed

What you’ll bring

• Qualified or part-qualified accountant, e.g. ACA / ACCA / CIMA, or equivalent experience
• Solid experience in a management accounting or similar finance role
• Strong Excel skills and confidence with accounting and reporting systems
• A sound grasp of month-end processes, budgeting and forecasting
• The ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues
• A methodical, curious approach with a keen eye for detail
