Senior Platform Engineer (AWS) | £75,000–£85,000 | Manchester City Centre | Hybrid

We're working with an established e-commerce marketplace investing in its engineering platform, cloud infrastructure and developer experience.

They're looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to help improve the tools, infrastructure and processes that software engineering teams rely on every day.

This is a hands-on role with scope to influence how engineers build, deploy and operate software across the business. You'll work across cloud infrastructure, automation, internal tooling and reliability, helping remove unnecessary complexity and making software delivery faster, safer and more efficient.

It's a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving engineering problems, improving the experience of other developers and having a genuine impact beyond their own team.

What you'll be doing

• Cloud infrastructure: Build and improve AWS infrastructure, focusing on scalability, reliability, performance and cost.
• Developer experience: Develop internal tooling and self-service capabilities that make it easier for engineers to build and deploy applications.
• Automation and CI/CD: Improve pipelines, deployment processes and reusable patterns to support consistent, reliable software delivery.
• Infrastructure as Code: Help manage and evolve cloud environments through automation and repeatable infrastructure.
• Reliability and observability: Improve monitoring, incident response and visibility of system performance.
• Cloud operations: Contribute to security, operational standards and cloud cost optimisation.
• Engineering collaboration: Work with software engineers and other technical teams to understand their challenges and deliver practical solutions.
• Technical leadership: Take ownership of complex problems, contribute to technical decisions and support other engineers through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• AI and automation: Explore opportunities to improve engineering workflows through AI-assisted tooling and new approaches to developer productivity.

What we're looking for

• Strong experience in Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, DevOps or a similar environment.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automated infrastructure management.
• Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
• Experience with containers and Kubernetes-based environments.
• An understanding of monitoring, observability, reliability and cloud operations.
• A mindset focused on automation, self-service and improving developer experience.
• The ability to take ownership, make pragmatic technical decisions and work effectively across engineering teams.
