The Opportunity

We are recruiting an Estimator to join a growing civil engineering contractor operating within the power and infrastructure sector.

You'll prepare competitive tenders for electricity substation civils and Extra High Voltage (EHV) cable installation projects, taking ownership of estimates from initial enquiry through to submission.

Key Responsibilities

• Review ITTs, drawings, specifications and tender documentation.

• Prepare detailed, first-principles estimates.

• Estimate substation civils, including earthworks, drainage, foundations, access roads and ducting.

• Estimate EHV cable installation works, including trenching, troughing and cable pulling.

• Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.

• Prepare tender programmes and supporting documentation.

• Coordinate tender queries, clarifications and site visits.

• Work with internal teams to develop commercially robust bids.

• Compile final tender submissions and support post-tender negotiations.

• Build client relationships and identify future opportunities.

About You

• Ideally five or more years' relevant estimating experience.

• Background in civil engineering, utilities, power or infrastructure.

• Strong first-principles estimating skills.

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and tender documentation.

• Excellent numerical, analytical and organisational skills.

• Confidence liaising with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.

• Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines.
