This opportunity may suit candidates with experience in youth work, mentoring, community support or working with children and young people who need additional guidance. It is particularly suited to someone who enjoys helping young people build confidence, make positive choices and develop the skills needed to succeed in an educational environment.

Within a school setting, you will help pupils engage with learning, manage challenges and develop positive relationships with adults and their peers.

The Role:

* Providing individual and small-group mentoring support
* Building positive relationships that encourage trust, engagement and personal development
* Helping pupils develop confidence, resilience and self-esteem
* Supporting children who experience difficulties with behaviour, relationships or emotional regulation
* Encouraging positive decision-making and appropriate responses to challenging situations
* Helping pupils engage with classroom activities and school routines
* Supporting social skills, communication and positive peer relationships
* Working alongside teachers and pastoral staff to reinforce agreed support strategies
* Sharing relevant observations and concerns with the appropriate school staff
* Maintaining professional boundaries and following safeguarding procedures

The Ideal Candidate:

* Has recent UK-based school experience within the last two years, ideally supporting pupils who need additional guidance
* Has experience in youth mentoring, youth work, behaviour support or a comparable child-focused role
* Can build rapport with children while maintaining clear professional boundaries
* Is patient, resilient and confident managing difficult conversations or situations
* Has strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Understands safeguarding, confidentiality and the importance of consistent support
* Is motivated to help children develop socially, emotionally and academically

A background in youth work, community programmes, mentoring or supporting children with SEMH needs would be advantageous. Candidates without recent school experience may be considered where their wider experience is relevant, subject to the requirements of the individual placement.

Why Work with Aspire People?

* Opportunities to bring transferable skills into education
* Access to daily supply and longer-term school placements
* Competitive daily pay rates
* Dedicated consultant guidance
* Experience supporting pupils across different school environments

If you have a background in youth work or mentoring and want to use your skills to make a difference in schools, apply today to discuss opportunities with Aspire People.
