Programme Manager

Commercial Fit-Out | Retail, Leisure, Hotels & Offices

Location: Greater Manchester
Salary: £65,000–£70,000 per annum
Package: Company car and additional benefits

The Opportunity

LGP Consultancy are working on behalf of a well-established commercial fit-out contractor to recruit an experienced Programme Manager to support the successful delivery of multiple projects across the retail, leisure, hotel and commercial office sectors.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional with a strong background in commercial fit-out and refurbishment to take ownership of project programmes, coordinate multiple live projects and ensure works are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing project delivery from initial planning and pre-construction through to completion and handover, working closely with project managers, site teams, subcontractors, clients and senior management.

Offering a salary of £65,000–£70,000, a company car and additional benefits, this position would suit a commercially aware and highly organised professional looking to take the next step in their career with an established contractor.

The Role

As Programme Manager, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating and monitoring the delivery of multiple commercial fit-out projects, ensuring that resources, budgets, timelines and project priorities are effectively managed.

You will provide a strategic overview of the project portfolio, identifying potential risks and programme delays, implementing corrective measures and maintaining clear communication between internal teams, clients and supply chain partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage and maintain detailed programmes for multiple commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects.
  • Oversee project timelines from pre-construction and mobilisation through to practical completion and handover.
  • Coordinate project managers, site managers, subcontractors, suppliers and internal departments to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Monitor progress against agreed programmes, identifying delays, critical path issues and potential risks at an early stage.
  • Implement recovery plans and proactive solutions to maintain project milestones and completion dates.
  • Manage resource allocation across multiple projects, ensuring labour, materials, plant and subcontractor availability align with programme requirements.
  • Work closely with commercial and operational teams to ensure projects are delivered within agreed budgets and contractual requirements.
  • Attend client meetings, progress reviews and internal programme meetings, providing clear updates on project performance.
  • Manage programme changes and variations, assessing their impact on project timelines, resources and delivery commitments.
  • Ensure projects comply with relevant health and safety legislation, quality standards and company procedures.
  • Oversee commissioning, snagging, practical completion and final handover processes.
  • Produce regular programme reports, forecasts and progress updates for senior management.
  • Drive continuous improvement across project planning, operational efficiency and programme management processes.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Programme Manager, Senior Project Manager or similar senior delivery role within the construction or commercial fit-out sector.
  • Strong background in commercial fit-out, refurbishment or interior construction projects.
  • Experience delivering projects across sectors such as retail, leisure, hotels, hospitality or commercial offices.
  • Demonstrable experience managing multiple projects or workstreams simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of construction programming, project sequencing, critical path analysis and resource planning.
  • Experience using project planning software such as Microsoft Project or Asta Powerproject.
  • Excellent organisational, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to manage programme risks and understand their impact on costs and contractual commitments.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, decision-making and maintaining project momentum.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage with clients, subcontractors, project teams and senior management.
  • A relevant construction qualification or professional accreditation would be advantageous.

Salary & Benefits

  • Basic salary: £65,000–£70,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • Company car: Included as part of the package.
  • Additional benefits: A wider benefits package offered by the employer.
  • Career development: The opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of a varied commercial fit-out project portfolio.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a commercially minded and delivery-focused Programme Manager who can bring structure, accountability and forward planning to a busy project environment.

You will be comfortable managing competing priorities, coordinating multiple teams and maintaining oversight of project performance, while building strong relationships with clients and the wider supply chain.

If you have a proven track record in commercial fit-out and are ready to take ownership of programmes across retail, leisure, hotels and offices, this could be an excellent next move.
