Experience: 2–3 years in a Menswear fashion design role

About The Couture Club

The Couture Club is a contemporary fashion brand known for its modern aesthetic, trend-led collections and distinctive approach to premium streetwear. We are looking for a talented and commercially minded Junior Menswear Designer to join our creative team in Manchester and contribute to the development of our growing menswear collections.

This is an exciting opportunity for a designer with 2–3 years of industry experience who is passionate about menswear, understands current fashion trends and is ready to take the next step in their career within a fast-paced, commercially driven fashion business.

The Role

As Junior Menswear Designer, you will work closely with the wider design team to research trends, develop new product ideas and support the creation of innovative, commercially successful menswear collections.

You will contribute to the design process from initial concept through to product development, ensuring that each collection reflects The Couture Club's brand identity, meets customer expectations and responds to emerging trends in the contemporary menswear market.

The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for detail, a good understanding of garment construction and fabrications, and the creativity and organisation required to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Product Development

Support the design and development of seasonal menswear collections across key product categories, including T-shirts, shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, knitwear, trousers, denim, outerwear and jersey.

Create original design concepts, mood boards, colour palettes, graphics and product presentations in line with the brand's direction.

Develop detailed technical drawings, CADs and design packs to communicate product requirements clearly to suppliers and manufacturers.

Assist with fabric, trim, wash and colour selection to ensure products meet the required aesthetic, quality and commercial objectives.

Work closely with the design team throughout the product development process, from initial concept through to final samples and production approval.

Trend Research & Market Awareness

Research emerging trends, competitor brands, market developments and consumer behaviour to identify new opportunities for the menswear collections.

Attend relevant trade shows, visit stores and review online platforms to gather inspiration and inform seasonal design direction.

Translate trend research into commercially relevant product ideas that align with The Couture Club's brand identity and customer.

Maintain awareness of developments in contemporary menswear, premium streetwear, silhouettes, fabrications, graphics and garment detailing.

Sampling & Technical Development

Review and comment on samples, ensuring design intent, fit, proportions, construction and finishing meet the required standards.

Support fit sessions and work with technical and product development teams to communicate amendments and resolve design issues.

Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers on design details, sample updates, fabrications and product specifications.

Maintain accurate design documentation, product information and sample records throughout the development cycle.

Teamwork & Collection Delivery

Collaborate with the wider design, buying, merchandising and product development teams to deliver cohesive and commercially successful collections.

Manage multiple design tasks and deadlines within a fast-paced environment.

Contribute creative ideas and solutions during design meetings, range reviews and seasonal presentations.

Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, maintaining consistency across product categories and alignment with the brand's overall vision.

About You

We are looking for a creative, motivated and commercially aware designer who can bring fresh ideas to the team while demonstrating a strong understanding of the menswear market.

Essential skills and experience:

2–3 years' experience in a fashion design role, ideally within menswear, contemporary fashion or streetwear.

A degree or equivalent qualification in Fashion Design or a related discipline.

A strong portfolio demonstrating menswear design, product development and an understanding of current trends.

Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, with experience producing CADs, technical drawings and design presentations.

A good understanding of garment construction, fabrications, washes, trims and finishing techniques.

Experience creating or contributing to technical packs and working with suppliers or manufacturers.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Excellent attention to detail, a proactive attitude and the confidence to contribute ideas within a collaborative team.

A genuine passion for menswear, contemporary fashion and the commercial side of the industry.

Desirable:

Experience working with premium streetwear or fashion brands with a strong graphic identity.

Knowledge of PLM systems and digital product development processes.

Experience working with overseas suppliers and understanding sampling and production timelines.

An awareness of commercial performance, product pricing and the balance between creativity and sales.

The opportunity to contribute to the development of a recognised contemporary fashion brand.

A creative and collaborative working environment in Manchester.

Exposure to the full menswear design and product development process.

The opportunity to develop your skills and progress within a growing fashion business.
