Interim Financial Controller - #2173523

Circa £100,000  |  Manchester City Centre (Hybrid)  |  4 Month FTC 

ALF Recruit have been engaged to recruit an Interim Financial Controller for a well-established and growing business in Manchester city centre.  The contract is for a minimum of 4 months, starting early November 2026. 

This is a hands-on, technical brief.  The business needs a strong, qualified FC to take firm ownership of audit, financial controls and reporting while it continues to grow.  You will need to land quickly, get under the skin of the numbers and leave the control environment in better shape than you found it. 

What you’ll get 

• Circa £100,000 

• Minimum 4 month fixed term contract, starting early November 2026 

• Hybrid working, 2 days a week in the city centre office 

• Free on-site city centre parking 

• A senior, visible role reporting directly to the Finance Director 

• The client’s preference is an employed 4 month fixed term contract, though they are open to a conversation about a day rate for the right candidate 

What you’ll be doing 

• Owning the month end close and delivering accurate, timely management accounts 

• Producing P&L, balance sheet, cashflow and KPI reporting with clear commentary for senior leadership 

• Leading the year end audit, preparing audit files, managing auditor queries and driving it through to completion 

• Preparing statutory accounts under FRS 102 and keeping on top of HMRC and VAT compliance 

• Reviewing and strengthening the financial controls framework, including segregation of duties, approval hierarchies and system controls 

• Overseeing reconciliations, journals, accruals, prepayments and overall ledger integrity 

• Spotting quick wins to tighten up process and reporting efficiency 

What we’re looking for 

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified 

• Proven FC or senior finance experience owning month end, management accounts and financial controls 

• A strong audit track record, ideally having led year end audits and prepared statutory accounts 

• Solid technical accounting knowledge, including FRS 102 

• Able to hit the ground running and make an impact quickly in a short term role 

• A confident communicator with senior stakeholders 

• Experience in a regulated or fast-growing business would be useful but is not essential 

• Available to start early November 2026
