Astro Education is working with a secondary school in the Manchester area to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher for a long-term, full-time position.

We are looking for a confident and knowledgeable teacher who can deliver engaging English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, inspire a love of reading and writing, and support students in achieving their full academic potential.

This is a full teaching role, with responsibility for lesson planning, preparation, delivery, assessment and marking. The successful candidate will be confident taking ownership of their classes, maintaining high standards and creating a positive learning environment where students are encouraged to succeed.

Experienced teachers are encouraged to apply, and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are also welcome.

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4.
• Teach English Language and English Literature in line with curriculum requirements.
• Prepare KS4 students for GCSE English examinations.
• Take responsibility for lesson planning, assessment, marking and providing constructive feedback.
• Monitor student progress and adapt teaching to support different abilities and learning needs.
• Develop students' reading, writing, speaking and analytical skills.
• Maintain strong classroom and behaviour management.
• Create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment that encourages participation and independent thinking.
• Work collaboratively with the English department and wider school team.
• Contribute to raising attainment and improving students' confidence and engagement in English.

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or is an ECT working towards completing their induction.
• Has experience teaching English in a UK secondary school, with ECTs also encouraged to apply.
• Is confident teaching across KS3 and KS4.
• Has strong subject knowledge in English Language and English Literature.
• Is confident with lesson planning, marking and assessment.
• Demonstrates effective classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Can deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that challenge and motivate students.
• Is organised, adaptable and committed to raising student achievement.
• Builds positive relationships with students and colleagues.
• Is reliable, professional and enthusiastic about making a difference.
