About the Role

Job Title: Solution Architect

Location: Manchester – Hybrid (2 days per week in the office)

Salary: c£75,000 + 15% bonus, generous pension

You’ll play a key role in major transformation programmes, focusing on application modernisation, cloud architecture and integration, working closely with engineering teams and senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead solution architecture across major technology transformation programmes.
• Design end-to-end solutions across applications, Azure, microservices, APIs and integrations.
• Translate business requirements into scalable, secure technical designs.
• Support application modernisation, reducing technical debt and improving system interoperability.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and senior stakeholders to shape architectural decisions.
• Produce architecture documentation and ensure solutions align with enterprise standards.
• Provide technical guidance, conduct design reviews and promote modern engineering practices.
• Identify opportunities to leverage automation and AI technologies.

Required Skills

• Proven experience as a Solution Architect, with a focus on application architecture and software engineering.
• Strong Azure experience across cloud services and application solutions.
• Experience with microservices, APIs and integration architecture.
• Track record of designing and delivering complex technology solutions.
• Strong understanding of architectural principles, design patterns and technical documentation.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience with UML, BPMN or enterprise architecture tools would be advantageous.
• Financial services or insurance experience would be beneficial.
