Modern Workplace Lead - #2169017
MRJ Recruitment
The modern workplace is evolving. Cloud-native technology, intelligent automation and AI are transforming how businesses operate, how employees collaborate and how IT services are delivered.
We're excited to be working with a leading eCommerce business who are embracing the power of modern technologies and investing in the next generation of workplace services.
As part of their strategic growth plans, we're looking for a Modern Workplace Engineering Team Leader (a brand new position within the company) who combines strong technical expertise with a forward-thinking approach to leadership, automation and engineering.
This isn't simply about keeping devices running. It's about challenging traditional ways of working, reducing manual processes and building a smarter, more secure and more connected digital workplace.
What's the role?
We're looking for an experienced Leader to build and lead a team of Modern Workplace Engineers responsible for designing, engineering and continuously improving the technologies used by colleagues across the UK and Europe.
Working across Microsoft 365, Intune, Autopilot, Entra ID and modern endpoint technologies, you'll play a key role in transitioning from traditional IT management towards a proactive, cloud-native and automation-led environment, whilst having the opportunity to influence technical direction, introduce new capabilities and help shape how modern workplace services evolve.
Day-to-day you'll:
- Lead and inspire: Manage, mentor and develop a team of Modern Workplace Engineers, creating a culture of innovation, collaboration and technical excellence.
- Drive modernisation: Lead the transition from traditional hybrid-joined environments towards cloud-native, Entra-joined endpoint management.
- Champion automation: Identify opportunities to automate repetitive processes using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, Power Automate and emerging AI technologies.
- Own workplace engineering: Provide technical leadership across Intune, Autopilot, Microsoft 365, endpoint security and device management.
- Improve digital experiences: Create simpler, faster and more reliable technology experiences for colleagues across the business.
- Deliver meaningful change: Lead engineering improvements and technology projects from initial design through to deployment and adoption.
- Build secure foundations: Establish consistent endpoint standards across Windows, macOS and mobile devices.
- Challenge the status quo: Bring fresh thinking to existing processes, using data, automation and modern engineering practices to deliver measurable improvements.
Sound interesting? To be considered, we're looking for:
An experienced Modern Workplace, Endpoint Engineering or End User Computing leader who enjoy combining hands-on technology with leadership and continuous improvement, whilst offering:
- Strong technical experience with Microsoft Intune, Windows Autopilot, Entra ID and Microsoft 365.
- Experience with Windows 11, Conditional Access, endpoint provisioning and modern device management.
- Hands-on scripting and automation experience, particularly PowerShell.
- Experience leading, mentoring or coordinating technical engineers.
- A strong understanding of endpoint security, compliance and vulnerability management.
- Experience delivering technology improvements across complex or multi-site environments.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A genuine interest in AI, automation and emerging workplace technologies.
- Additional experience with Microsoft Graph, Power Automate, JAMF, Azure Virtual Desktop or digital employee experience platforms would be advantageous.
