A leading global technology and professional services organisation is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Engineer to join its growing Security Engineering function. This is an opportunity for a technically capable security professional to work across complex cloud, hybrid and on-premises environments, helping to protect critical infrastructure, applications and data.

The successful candidate will contribute to the design, implementation and continuous improvement of security solutions while working alongside engineering, cloud and security teams to identify risk, strengthen controls and maintain compliance with recognised security standards.

The Opportunity

The Security Engineering team operates across a broad range of modern technologies and environments, including cloud platforms, on-premises infrastructure and hybrid architectures. The role provides exposure to security tooling covering areas such as security monitoring, incident detection, incident response and threat intelligence.

The Cyber Security Engineer will play a hands-on role in strengthening security across client environments, combining engineering expertise with an understanding of emerging cyber threats and modern security practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement and manage cyber security tools, technologies and processes that protect infrastructure, applications and data.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering and security teams to embed security best practices throughout technology environments.
  • Develop automation to improve security operations, including SIEM log ingestion, routing and security tooling.
  • Support firewall and network security management across cloud, hybrid and on-premises environments.
  • Develop, maintain and enhance security policies, standards and procedures.
  • Conduct infrastructure security assessments using recognised methodologies and tooling, including CIS Benchmarks.
  • Contribute to vulnerability management, endpoint security, intrusion detection and prevention capabilities.
  • Support security monitoring and incident response activities within SOC environments.
  • Apply security principles across cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, virtualised environments and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Help identify and mitigate emerging security risks, including those associated with AI and modern cloud technologies.
Technical Skills & Experience

The successful Cyber Security Engineer is likely to bring experience across several of the following areas:
  • Strong understanding of cyber security and platform engineering principles.
  • Networking and cloud security across modern technology environments.
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, virtualisation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Strong Linux or WSL experience, with software development or scripting capability.
  • Practical experience with SIEM and log management platforms, including technologies such as:
  • Splunk
  • Microsoft Sentinel
  • Cribl
  • ELK
  • Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Scripting or programming skills using Python, Bash and/or PowerShell.
  • Understanding of IDS/IPS, vulnerability management and endpoint security.
  • Experience working within or alongside Security Operations Centre (SOC) teams.
  • Knowledge of AI security and AI hardening techniques.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as:
  • Terraform
  • CloudFormation
  • Bicep
