Reed
Road Information Officer | Manchester City Council
Hourly rate: £18.16 per hour
Length of role: Initial 2 months
Are you from a legal background and looking for an opportunity to use your knowledge in a different environment?
Manchester City Council is looking for a Road Information Officer to join its Highways Business Support Team.
You’ll deal with a range of statutory and legal enquiries covering public rights of way, adopted roads, property purchases, planning and development. This includes reviewing legal and planning documentation, carrying out Land Registry checks, preparing documents and plans, liaising with Legal and Planning teams and, where required, representing Highways at Magistrates’ Court.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has a legal background, ideally with 1+ year of post-graduate experience.
- Is confident understanding and communicating legal terminology.
- Can interpret legal and statutory documents accurately.
- Has strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Is organised and comfortable managing detailed enquiries within deadlines.
- Is willing to develop their knowledge of highways legislation, including the Highways Act 1980 and Town and Country Planning Act 1990.
Previous highways experience isn't essential. The most important thing is that you have the legal grounding to understand the subject matter and communicate effectively within a legal and statutory environment.
If you have a legal background and are interested in applying it within local government and highways, we’d like to hear from you.
