Accounts Assistant
Location: Manchester
Working Pattern: Office-based, Monday to Friday
Hours: 9:00am - 5:00pm
Salary: £28,000 per annum

We are now looking for an organised, proactive and detail-focused Accounts Assistant to join the team in Manchester.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous accounts or finance experience, or someone currently working towards an AAT or ACCA qualification, who is looking to develop their career within a professional legal environment.
The Role
- As an Accounts Assistant, you will play an important role within the Accounts Team, supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business.
- You will be responsible for processing financial transactions, managing reconciliations, assisting with billing and bookkeeping, monitoring ledgers and supporting the Head of Finance with month-end reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
- The successful candidate will be highly organised, confident working with figures and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining a consistently high standard of accuracy.
Key Duties
- Process financial transactions, payments and weekly payments runs accurately and in line with company procedures.
- Manage client and office account bank reconciliations and daily Xero reconciliations.
- Raise and process invoices and credit notes promptly and accurately.
- Monitor and maintain the ledger on Proclaim, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
- Monitor billing team mailboxes and resolve payment and invoice queries.
- Support bookkeeping, month-end reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
- Monitor aged debtor and creditor balances and follow up where required.
- Work closely with internal teams, external stakeholders and referrers to resolve queries.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and contribute to improvements in finance processes and systems.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous accounts or finance experience or currently working towards AAT/ACCA.
- Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Accurate and reliable, with the ability to work under pressure.
- Proactive approach with a willingness to learn and improve processes.
- Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, and confidence using finance systems.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
Desirable
- Experience using Xero and/or Proclaim.
- Experience within a legal or professional services environment.
- Knowledge of client and office accounts.
