An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Procurement Manager to join a growing team supporting the delivery of major hyperscale data centre projects across the UK and international markets.

Working on the client side, you'll take a leading role in overseeing procurement activity delivered through PMC and main contractor partners. This is a senior position for someone who understands the full tender lifecycle and has the commercial experience to review, challenge and improve procurement decisions before contracts are awarded.

You'll be responsible for a portfolio of construction, MEP, equipment and professional services packages, overseeing procurement from tender preparation through evaluation, approval and contract award.

Rather than simply administering tenders, you'll act as the client's procurement authority reviewing the work produced by delivery partners, identifying commercial or contractual issues and ensuring packages are awarded on time and in line with project requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing procurement strategies, tender programmes and package plans prepared by PMC and contractor teams.

• Ensuring RFP documentation is commercially robust and aligned with client requirements before going to market.

• Reviewing scopes, pricing schedules, evaluation methodologies and proposed contract terms.

• Participating in supplier clarification and commercial meetings.

• Challenging bid evaluations, levelling exercises, qualifications and award recommendations.

• Assessing proposed contract awards from a value, risk and compliance perspective.

• Managing packages through internal governance and approval processes through to contract execution.

• Monitoring procurement programmes against critical construction dates and escalating potential delays.

• Tracking long-lead equipment and manufacturing constraints, including generators, UPS systems, switchgear, transformers and cooling equipment.

• Supporting the procurement of consultants and other professional services.

• Providing clear weekly reporting on procurement progress, commercial risks and decisions requiring client input.

• Capturing lessons learned and helping improve procurement practices across future projects and regions.

This position would suit an established procurement or commercial professional who has personally managed complex tenders and is comfortable scrutinising procurement work carried out by other experienced teams.

You'll ideally bring:

• 10+ years' experience within construction, engineering, procurement or commercial management.

• A strong track record of taking tenders from RFP through to contract award.

• Experience gained with a PMC, main contractor, hyperscale operator, colocation provider or similar organisation.

• Previous exposure to data centres, mission-critical facilities or other technically complex projects.

• Strong knowledge of construction, MEP and long-lead equipment procurement.

• Experience procuring professional and consultancy services.

• A working understanding of NEC, FIDIC and/or JCT contracts alongside bespoke client terms.

• International procurement experience across multiple countries, ideally within EMEA and/or APAC.

• Excellent commercial analysis, bid levelling and Excel capability.

• Previous leadership or management experience.

• The right to work in the UK.

MCIPS, MRICS or an equivalent professional qualification would be advantageous, as would experience with procurement platforms such as Ariba or Coupa. Additional language skills relevant to EMEA or APAC markets would also be beneficial.

This is a chance to work on major hyperscale data centre programmes while representing the client at a critical point in the project lifecycle.

You'll gain exposure to projects across the UK, EMEA and APAC, working directly with senior leadership and influencing how significant construction and equipment packages are procured and awarded.

The position is predominantly remote, with travel to London and international project locations when required.
