An established corporate insolvency business is seeking a Bankruptcy Specialist to manage personal insolvency matters within its Manchester team. This is an opportunity for someone with substantial bankruptcy experience to take ownership of cases and provide specialist support to colleagues working across the wider practice.

The firm would ideally like the successful candidate to work from its Manchester office. It will consider hybrid or fully remote working for someone whose experience enables them to manage cases independently.

You will manage bankruptcy cases from appointment through to closure, ensuring that statutory requirements and deadlines are met and that all parties receive clear, timely communication.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing a portfolio of bankruptcy cases at different stages.
• Reviewing case information, identifying assets and liabilities, and planning the next steps for each matter.
• Liaising with bankrupt individuals, creditors, solicitors, agents and other relevant parties.
• Investigating financial affairs, transactions and potential recoveries.
• Dealing with property interests, asset realisations and income-related matters where applicable.
• Preparing reports, correspondence and statutory documentation.
• Reviewing creditor claims and assisting with distributions.
• Maintaining accurate case records and progressing matters efficiently towards closure.
• Providing technical guidance to colleagues on bankruptcy procedures and case issues.
• Escalating complex or sensitive matters to the appointed Insolvency Practitioner as appropriate.

You will have significant, hands-on experience of bankruptcy case administration within an insolvency practice and a sound understanding of the relevant procedures and statutory requirements. You should be confident managing cases independently, identifying issues that require further investigation and communicating professionally with people in difficult circumstances.

Strong organisation, attention to detail and written communication skills are essential. Experience of working within a corporate insolvency practice would be beneficial.

The preferred arrangement is office-based in Manchester. The firm is open to discussing hybrid or fully remote working with candidates who have a high level of relevant experience and can demonstrate that they are comfortable taking ownership of a bankruptcy caseload with limited day-to-day supervision.
